Assesment

Assessment is an integral part of the educational practice at Hanson Place School. This is an ongoing process that utilizes both formal and informal assessments.

Students in grades 3 to 8 also participate in the IOWA Test of Basic Skills, and the NYS ELA and

Math exams. Grades 4 & 8 participate in the NYS Science exams, and students in 7th & 8th are encouraged to participate in the high school Regent exams.

Test results are analyzed and used to plan instructions (DDI) for classes and individual students as well as to make recommendations to parents.

The school provides report cards on a quarterly basis. At the conclusion of the first and third marking periods (quarter), the school hosts parent-teacher conferences. These conferences allow for face-to-face meeting between teachers and parents to discuss students' academic progress.
